Welcome to collection/bundle review #2 of the Pokémon TCG: Scarlet and Violet 151 set!

The Pokémon brand never ceases to amaze with its consistent release of collectibles, and among its latest offerings is the new Scarlet and Violet 151 TCG set. This being a 'special' release Pokémon TCG set means there are no individual booster packs for sale this time around, with access coming in the form of several individual collections or bundles (not all of which are immediately available at release).

The 'Poster Collection', is generally the cheapest of these collections (starting at around £15/$18, depending on the retailer), and promises a small amount of everything for avid Pokémon card enthusiasts, including 3 booster packs, 3 promo cards, and as the name suggests, a poster.

In this review, we'll delve deep into each component, showcase their quality, and evaluate the collection's overall value for collectors.

What is the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet 151 Poster Collection?

A package containing 1 large double-sided poster, 3 holographic promo cards and 3 Pokémon 151 booster packs, each containing 11 cards, comprising 3 holographics, 7 standard cards, and 1 energy (which also has a chance of being a 4th holographic)… That's 33 cards in total, or 36 including the promos. The Promo Cards

The Poster collection includes Scarlet and Violet promos #46 Bulbasaur, #47 Charmander and #48 Squirtle, all 3 of the well loved Kanto starters. Each card is a beautiful holo with a similar artwork style, which will evoke much nostalgia for any 'genwunner' or OG Pokémon fan. They're definitely a must have for any 151 completionist (us included).

The Poster

The surprisingly large and thick poster is also double-sided. Measuring roughly 69cm x 99cm, one side features coloured silhouettes of each of the original 151 Pokémon, which reminds us of that 'seen in episode' check-list poster everyone seemed to mysteriously own when Pokémon first aired on TV (can't just be us surely?).

The reverse shows different card artwork for each of the original 151 Pokémon, a nice touch to suit different tastes, which also makes buying a second Poster Collection for the boosters feel a little bit less of a waste.

The Poster Collection's Price and Value

With retail around £15/$18 to £18/$22, it can be argued that the Poster Collection is a good price point to begin your 151 collection, especially when considering it is the cheapest of the currently available collections.

If the included poster and 3 promos aren't taken into account, the Poster Collection equates to around £5/$6 to £6/$7 per boost pack depending on the price paid, not being too far shy of the regular booster pack RRP at the lower end. With this in mind, definitely search around for the best possible in-stock price.

• There's a lot of unnecessary waste for those who just want to get their hands on boosters at the lowest possible entry price

The Pokémon Scarlet and Violet Poster Collection delivers a blend of items that will undoubtedly attract both seasoned collectors and new enthusiasts who are seeking out the new 151 set, for the lowest possible entry price.

While the booster packs offer the thrill of discovering new cards, the promo cards provide a nostalgic bonus, and the poster adds a decorative element for fans to showcase their love for the original 151 Pokémon.
